"Hi, Elwin.  This is Laura.  How Ya' doin'?"  After passing the normal time of day, etc., she continues:  "I've been remembering the great times I had back as an eleven year old girl in the Christian horse club which you put together for us kids.  It was there that I was first introduced to Christ, and I remember the wonderful times we had on the trail rides and horse camps that you led.  I've been hungering for a return of those times and wondering if you have ever thought of doing something similar, now that I'm an old lady?!? (She can't be over 25 but claims to be a decade or two more.)"

Well, as a matter of fact, for the past few years I had experienced a growing desire to form a ministry among horse people of trail riding inclination, perhaps similar to what I had done in my Endurance Riding days (1975 national champion).  The short of the matter is, a date was set and Laura invited a dozen folks that might have a similar interest, and we all met at her house.  Two key Bible verses motivated our discussion:  Zechariah 14:20 "...there shall be inscribed on the bells (tack) of the horses, "Holy to the Lord," and Colossians 3:17 "Whatever you do in word or deed do all to the Glory of God." C.T.R.F. was born.

Very few of us busy people need "something else to do," so the purpose of C.T.R.F. must be clear and compelling.  The PURPOSE is threefold:  1. Provide recreational horse trail riding that is built around the concept of worshiping the creator of all that amazing world of nature through which we ride, and 2. Low key sharing our love of the Lord with non-Christian riders by the Christian atmosphere which permeates each ride.  (Each ride is started with a prayer, and a "God Spot" is taken somewhere along the trail,)  and 3. Assist trail riders in other geographical areas to do the same, thus building a series of "chapters" which can annually combine in a larger Christian Horse Camp.
