CHRISTIAN TRAIL RIDERS FELLOWSHIP
NEWSLETTER

February, 2009

Hello everyone….You may want to keep this one handy cause it’s got lots of dates of what’s coming up in 2009.

It’s been 2 months since we have sent out a newsletter so first we will catch you up on the last four gatherings. Race-day on Dec 7th at Portland Meadows was a blast. Twelve of us met up at Taco Time for lunch and then car-pooled over to the track. We watched 4 or 5 races…lost a couple of bucks (I think John even won $1) and spent some time with Sonja.

We got together just after Christmas (the 28th) and had a great time doing a small auction/fundraiser. Twenty-four people came for some great food & fellowship and Mike K. got some discussion going from some bible reading. The auction made $267.50. Yee Ha!!! Thanks to everyone for bringing food and auction items and bidding on them.

On Jan. 10th some of us met at Doug’s to talk about fund raising for Uganda. Bernie and Lois, who help with Gospel Messenger’s, were there to show us pictures from Bernie’s trip there in early Dec. and update us on the current conditions and needs. We were able

to make contact, through Bernie, with Jackline (the 12 year old girl that CTRF sponsors). He took her one of our CTRF shirts, a cowboy bible, some pictures, one of our flyers and a short letter from us. Time got away from us and we weren’t able to talk much about fundraising ideas so it got tabled for a bit.

January 25th meeting was set aside for planning 2009 events. Remember – regular scheduled rides on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month start in March. Eight of us joined in going thru the calendar and this is what we came up with…

*Sun. Feb. 8th 4pm till ???– Prayer and Fasting at Doug P’s. After talking more about CTRF involvement with helping in Uganda it was clear that we needed to spend some time focusing on what God wants. We have set aside some additional time to meet at Doug’s again. This time we will be meeting anytime after 4pm on Sunday, Feb. 8th. There will be no meal. We want to fast and pray throughout the evening. Please come and join us if you can…for 1 hour or longer if you like. How ever the Lord is directing you. Doug’s address is 17639 Hwy 211 Molalla. His phone number is 503-799-6201.

*Sun. Feb. 22nd 5:30pm – 8:30pm – regular scheduled CTRF PPPP (pot-luck, prayer, praise and planning meeting). Colton Fire Station.

*Sat. Feb. 28th  8am till ??? – all day. CTRF booth/table at the OET State Round Up at the Yamhill County Fairgrounds in McMinnville. Gemma, John and possibly Doug will be manning the booth. Other items of interest:

Budget – After expenses (web site, Jackline) and auction and misc. income we have $347.95 in petty cash. There are no known expenses for the month other than needing to donate an item for the OET booth. We will probably give a CTRF shirt and/or hat.

Doug shared some scripture and led in a great discussion about being still before God and allowing Him to have his way with us. I know this isn’t a very good paraphrase, but it really was some good time of fellowship and worship. Dave W. will be sharing some insight from scripture and God’s leading at the Feb. 22nd meeting.

The next regular CTRF PPPP (Prayer, Praise, Planning, Pot-luck) meeting will be on Feb. 22nd at the Colton Fire Station, 20987 S. Hwy 211 Colton, OR 97017. Potluck starts at 5:30pm. Hope some of you can make it.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,

as working for the Lord,

not for men,

since you know that you will receive an inheritance

from the Lord as a reward.

It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Colossians 3: 23,24
