Hi fellow trail riders,

There were 9 people present at the May potluck/meeting. Mike shared a great message.

 

Ride report for May:

May 9th at Hardy Creek Trailhead. Four riders in one group and Four in another.

May 23rd at Mission State Park. Seven riders took to the trails. Said it was a great ride.

Up coming June rides: All rides start at 10am. Bring lunch if you have time to visit.

June 13th Regular schedule ride at Riley horse camp. Foot in the stirrup at 10am. Level 2 ride.

Riley Horse Camp – Mt. Hood National Forest (for more info call 503-668-1700 / for camping reservations call 1-877-444-6777 or go to www.reserveusa.com). This is a level 2-3 ride depending on which trail you choose. Varied terrain – water crossings, switch-backs, hikers, some narrow and steep trails.

The trailhead is east of Sandy (Hwy 26) off Lolo Pass Road – approx. 22.5 miles.

From Sandy: Follow Hwy 26 for 18 miles to the community of ZigZag. Turn north (left) onto Lolo Pass Road (Rd18). Travel for 4.5 miles, then turn right on Rd 1825 and continue for approximately ½ mile. Turn right, still on Rd 1825, crossing the Sandy River Bridge and continue for another ½ mile to Rd 1825-382. Turn right, cross the Lost Creek Bridge and the campground

will be almost immediately on the right. Day use parking is near the Lost Creek Bridge or in the middle of the campground. Don’t block campsites.

June 27th NO regular scheduled ride due to the Youth Camp we are doing at Doug’s place.

 

July Rides:

July 11th reg. Schedule ride at Elwood - Near Colton - More info call Gemma at 503-307-1484

The trailhead is located just about mid-way between Molalla and Estacada off Hwy 211. This will be a different trail then we have ridden in the past. Parking will be at John and Gemma’s in a large field. 28758 S Cox Rd Colton, OR 97017. Level 1 ride. Shoes or boots recommended.

From Molalla: Go Northeast on Hwy 211 to Colton. Continue past Colton about 4.3 miles until you come to Elwood Rd. Take a right on Elwood and go .25 miles. At intersection go straight…this is where Cox Rd. starts. Go one mile looking for a green barn with a rusty roof. At barn go to third drive on the left. We will have the CTRF sandwich board out.

From Estacada: Head South on Hwy 211. Go quite a few miles (watch for Shibley Rd). Elwood Rd. will come up just after it. Take a left on Elwood and go .25 miles to the intersection, then go straight 1 mile to the driveway. Look for the CTRF sandwich board.

Other Events:

June 14th at 5:30pm. Special planning meeting at Doug’s for the June 26, 27 youth campout. We need all the help we can get. Contact Mike K. if you can join us. 503-209-7622. Or just come to the meeting. Doug’s address is 17639 Hwy 211 Molalla, OR 97038. Bring food!

June 26th & 27th. Youth Camp at Doug’s. It will start Friday night and end Saturday after dinner. Molalla Nazarene Church is insuring this camp. CTRF will be doing all activities. There will be camping, music, food, games, fishing, swimming, scavenger hunt, hay rides…and of course HORSEBACK RIDING! We are hoping on 20-30 kids, 6th grade thru high school. Please come to the meeting (above) at Doug’s if you think you want to be a part of this fantastic ministry. Even a few hours of your time would be welcome. All kids in the above age range are able to attend. Cost is $20 per kid + a waiver will be signed. Call Mike for more info. (above).

July 2nd Kiddie Parade! Part of the Molalla Buckaroo! Thursday night…parade starts at 6pm. You should be at the Buckaroo grounds no later than 3:30pm to get ready. The theme this year is “Pioneers on Parade”. Kids ride, parents or helpers walk with lead. The age cut-off for riding is 14 years old. We need 2 or 3 banner holders to walk. Anyone else that wants to walk it can. Call Judy for additional preparation info. 503-630-5846

July 4th Molalla Buckaroo Parade! CTRF will be in the “BIG” parade this year. The theme this year is “150 Years of Pioneering”. We will be wearing our red, white & blue shirts, white straw hats, & decking out the horses. The parade starts at 9:30am. You need to be at the rodeo grounds by 7:30am to get ready. Have a clean horse and paint horse hoofs black…bring horse décor. Call or email Gemma if you plan to attend and we will let you know where to meet. Molalla Buckaroo rodeo runs from July 2nd – 5th

Junior Rodeo (PeeWee) Church Services: July 12th, July 26th, Aug. 9th & Aug. 30th. Looks like we are trying to do all 4 church services this year. They will be held at the Molalla Buckaroo Grounds in or near the bleachers. We will let you know times in future newsletters. This is a great way to reach out to the community for our Creator. And it’s so much FUN!

Budget - We have $147.45 in petty cash after June expenses.

The next regular PPPP meeting will be on Sunday, June 28th starting at 5:30pm (potluck/fellowship/bible challenge), followed by business from 7:00pm until 9pm. We meet at the Colton Fire Station at 20987 S. Hwy 211 Colton, OR 97017. Hope to see some of you there.
