Howdy
CTRF Riders,
1. The August camp turned out to be pretty much a "bummer"
due to forest fires, both at the original
Pacific Crest Trail site west of Sisters, OR, and at the Carter Meadows
"plan B" site. Fellowship was
great but riding was restricted and the lightning storms and fires were
not fun. So if your decision
was to stay home it was a good one. The camp is called Carter Meadows
and the trails are beautiful. We had a very exciting time here.
The Fires were all around us... the helicopters were going over
camp...but we stuck it out. This was to be our overnight into
this wilderness, but as we were saddled and packed is when we
were told that this fire had broke out. The Lord was watching over
us..only due to a mishap with Elwins horse did we not leave when we were
scheduled. Otherwise we would have missed the Fire Marshall and
would have been possibly caught in the way of the fire! We came
away from this camp feeling that the Lord was truly in our presents and
caring for us. Also Kirsten was having to leave early and as
Rusty my husband walk by her trailer..noticed the hitch was
completely loose. This road from this point down to Callahan
California is the most vertical drop that I've been on. At that
moment we Praised God for His protection!!
2. Our next CTRF regular monthly Praise-Prayer-Plan meeting
is Sunday August 27th. At least that
is a 95% sure date. It may have to be the 26th but will let you know if
so. This will be a bit of a
"PARTY" time to celebrate the introduction of the brand new
CD which Janice and Laura have done--
terrific original music. Yes, copies will be available for sale. They
only printed up 1,000 so will probably
run out before the evening is over!! This will be a Bar-B-Q, meat being
provided by CTRF, so bring
a side dish and a friend. We'll start cooking at 5:00--come early: Home
of Rusty/Laura Vaughan,
7930 Upper Applegate Road (toward the Lake). 899-1163.
3. Our September CTRF Coast Family Horse Camp is Labor
Day weekend, Sept 1-4, Pistol River,
Oregon about 20 miles north of Brookings, on a private ranch owned by
octogenarian Rose Walker,
just a stones throw from the beach. !!WOW!! did we ever have a great time
when we went there
two years ago. More details and directions later.
