| Trail Tract #3 - Trailer Broke by Elwin Wines |

My friend Ernie, and I, were frequently called on to haul horses for club members. Many times these horses had never been in a trailer, and we developed quite a method for getting a rebellious and frightened horse successfully loaded and delivered. There are several ways to load a horse for the first time, and every trainer out there is sure his/her way is sure-fire. Well, some are better than others and most any method will get 'em loaded eventually. But, regardless of which method is used, here is a must: Once you get that horse in and he gets a lip full of grain, take him right back out. After a short spell of praise put him right back in, then right back out. Do this however many times it takes, leaving him in longer each time, but backing him out before he tries to back out himself. He will eventually discover, "Hey, I'm not trapped in here!!" Soon he'll be willing to stay in, and now you have a trailer broke horse. A lot of us are just like that first-time hesitant horse when considering giving ourselves to Jesus as Savior and Lord; afraid of being trapped. Friend, God doesn't force load anybody. Becoming a Christian is by invitation: Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man (woman, boy, girl) hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and sup (have fellowship) with him (her) (Rev 3:20)." Furthermore, salvation need not be a sudden sink or swim experience. We are invited to "Taste and see that the Lord is good (Ps 34:8)," then take the plunge. |
I
have yet to have a horse load perfectly the 1st time. It may take a dozen or more entries to get that acceptable load.
So it is with becoming a Christian. Perfection is not a prerequisite. We are invited to come, as in the words of that old favorite
hymn, "Just as I am without one plea, but that thy blood was shed
for me. And that thou bidst me come to thee, O' lamb of God I come. I come." Friend, riding in the gospel trailer sure beats sore-footed walking. I invite you to put your lead rope in the Lord's hand, walk right in, sink your nose in that sweet feed, relax, and let Him take you down life's road to your place of service. It's a great ride, and it's a great life. If you are ready to load up I suggest this prayer: "Lord, I want to do that right now. I've been baulking and jerking back, resisting your salvation, insisting on my own sinful way. Forgive me, Lord. I accept you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for saving me. Amen." If this is your p<span class="main">rayer, contact us at C.T.R.F. so we can rejoice with you. "Praise the Lord!!" |
